TIME IS FLYING!
Mar 18 08
So here it goes.... I'll try to fill you in on where I've been lately... feel like I've been living out of a bag for over a month now.
As I mentioned before, I spent some time back in Ontario for some contests and stuff. The contests went pretty well, only 1 podium. The funny thing is the podium was in the halfpipe contest - I can't even fathom how I did that because the level of pipe riding these days is rediculous! All my buddies and myself were axiously awaiting the Triple Challenge Big Air, but it was looking like the weather would not be in our favor.... sure enough that was the case.
70 KM/HR winds, and over a foot of snow during a contest...a contest that a) should have been cancelled and run the next day (which was bluebird and little to no wind), b) was a 70ish foot jump, c) you couldn't see the jump from the droppin because of the wind and snow....should i go on...? Worst, most danergous contest/jump situation I have ever experienced.... pretty rediculous if you ask me.
Just before I left Ontario, I got to spend a lot of time with my friends, family and girlfriend. The day before I left, Andrew Burns, Matt Belsile and my self hit the best rail I have ever found and got some pretty sweet shots.
Just before I was about to hit it, this flock of geese flew over top so I bombed in and tried to get a shot under them....unfortunately I got pooped on right before I took off and screwed up my trick. It woulda been cool!
Right around the rail:

Anyways, I flew back to BC to find no more snow, and balmy weather - instant spring somehow... hopefully it will snow again before winter lets out!
The next day, I hopped in my truck and headed to the interior for the final stop of the YOU LOOK GOOD Rider's Cup at Sun Peaks. That contest went really well until I broke my board in qualifiers so that was pretty much the end of my day. However, I managed to get a shot or two on a sick barrel Sun Peaks had set up.
Contest ended, and then there was the after party. Kung Fu party! So much fun!

The next day, we headed back to Whistler and somehow we got lost...going a few hours out of the way.
I'm sitting at home in Whistler waiting for the weather to change and debating heading to Terrace, a place in Northern BC near Alaska for a Frequency Magazine trip.

I'll have to wait and see what happens....

Sorry for the lack of postings! Here is a quick update of what the heck has been going on:
- I'm in Ontario right now for some contests (YOU LOOK GOOD) and TELUS TRIPLE CHALLENGE
- Try to get some jibbing done while I'm here
- Had a visit from my girlfriend the past few weeks in Whistler - super fun times!
- Built a really fun jump in Triconi with Burns and Logan Short - WE killed it
- Spent $400 on my sled (just pullcord repair, and a new seal or two )...no fun!
- I started spinning F/S with Japans.....really weird!
Anyways, I'm out for now. Practice time! See you all at the Triple Challenge!

A drop or two...

Welcome to Whistler Matt Fimio! His first day shooting, we (Andrew Skelhorn, Jared Bunko, and myself, with SandBox filmer Aaron 'Trout', Fimio Photo, and moral support from an injured Steve Cartwright) hit up this drop in the Whistler Backcountry. We'll have to go back and shoot it again when the snow fills in better for the landing, but here is what it looked like from the side. It worked out pretty well though - I got a half-cab on it - pretty stoked! Biggest drop I've ever done - about 30 feet all said and done.
Me, mid-half-cab ... too bad it looks like a straight air! Fimio Photo (WAY MORE TO COME!).

The Crew - well some of it (L to R) Bunko, Trout, Skelhorn

The drop: Cartwright on the take-off

Until next time...

Magazines - the life of the not-so-rich and not-so-famous!

Well, I have been graced with having some things in some respectable magazines for the world to see - well hopefully you all see it!
First of all, in the latest issue of Snowboard Canada, I have a 3-page interview (aka 'Who Dat?')! Thanks to those guys (Colin, Matt, Scott, and Kaity Bailey) for making that happen. Stoked! I'll scan in the article ASAP and make sure to do more to put in my blank 'media' section. Here is a crappy iSight cam shot of it.
Second, I have a 2-page interview/feature in Collingwood's UpDown magazine. Stoked on this for sure!
Make sure you go out and find these (the UpDown is only available around Ontario, but Snowboard Canada is available in newsstands Worldwide!
Off to shred some pow in the trees on Whistler if anyone wants to join! Forecast is snow snow snow for all of this week!
