Early season goofin’

Check out this little edit that the boys over at NuuLife Cinema (twitter: @nuulifecinema) put together the other day of us screwing around on the hill. We’ve been waiting for a few week for it to snow again, and snow-making is waiting to blow enough snow to get the rest of black park up and running. Small jumps but fun times with the boys!

Here’s a little coverage on it over at PUSH.ca,  and here’s a link to a little piece they did on me a while back, if you feel like a quick read!

New shot in Transworld Snow

I haven’t seen the issue yet, but my buddy Arne Zeising pointed out that my board sponsor Endeavor snowboards posted a shot on their blog I got in the new TWsnow, which happens to be their annual ‘Photo Annual’.  This shoot was a blast, and a big thanks goes out to Colin DWATT and Jussi Grznar for slipping into wetsuits and diving into an opening in a huge glacial lake to GTS (get the shot).  Chris Rasman and I spent the morning riding this gnarly ice wall (hopefully one of those shots gets run in a magazine soon!), we then got prepped to tow each other in using our sled’s and rope.  We clocked in at about 80km/hr on average to make it across the opening in the lake, because we needed to not only make it across the freezing water, but also make surf-style turns to get the shot we were going for.

Right before this was taken I was a little heavy on my front foot and took a tumble into the frigid grey/blue water, but luckily Colin was on the shore and scooped me out of the water quickly.  If you look closely you’ll see that I am no longer wearing my SPY ‘Flynn’ sunglasses (they are likely sitting at the bottom of the lake, or maybe further down stream by now!), and my shirt is soaked through.  Leave it to Jussi to convince you that ‘one more shot and I got it’ is all it will take, in this case, thanks for pressuring me buddy!

SPY Platoon day on Blackcomb

Super fun day with the SPY crew. Big thanks to Trini for makin’ it happen and all the support SPY gives me.  Click below to view the video.

First day sledding 2011/2012 season

It’s been a while since I’ve smelled 2-stroke exhaust, but today I finally did!  The boys (Lucas, Jesmond, Adam, and I) went for a late day sled on our new toys for my birthday!  I now have about 26km on my new Ski-Doo Summit 800 E-Tec from No Limits Motorosports.

Here’s a shot of me on the way out of the Brandywine bowl looking back at Black Tusk – not a bad view eh!

0.6km in the parking lot about to unload the new machine for the first time!

Some pics from Mica Heli 2011

Last year, I was lucky enough to go on my first heli trip representing SPY.  It was a super last minute trip but I dropped everything to make it happen.  I headed out the next day to Revelstoke where I met up with the Rocky Mountain Sherpa‘s (big ski production company – check out their new release ‘All I Can”).  Some fellow Whistlerites were on board, all skiers except for me, which was different for sure, but cool to hang with some different people and made some new buddies.

When you first get to Mica, you are greeted by their team in Revelstoke, you then drive 2 hours to the end of a road, where you unload your gear and all of a sudden a heli shows up. This place is 100% heli-accessed so everything has to be flown in and out (food, booze, supplies, and people!).  The lodge you fly into is insane! It’s a huge log cabin with tons of rooms, hot tubs, and gourmet chefs.  The guides are super knowledgeable and the heli pilots like to stunt.

While there, we were shooting for a big promo video aired all over the US and Canada for Mica – here it is:

Here’s some pics too (click here OR the image below)

This beaut was shot by Mica’s own Darryn Shewchuck
