Meet photog Cam Hunter

I’ve had the pleasure of shooting lots this year with a relatively newer face in the photography game here in Whistler; Cameron Hunter.  He’s been a lot of fun to shoot with and I’m stoked on how quickly his work is adapting to the backcountry.  Here’s some ‘B’ shots he snapped of me the last little while, and be sure to check out the rest of his blog post @ http://cameronhunterphoto.com/blog/?p=487

Been a while folks!  I’ve been busy shreddin’ as much as possible, and sledding tons too.  Finally the backcountry has settled down a bit, and the weather cleared up giving us a few days to get some work done back there.  It was a good feeling to finally get some shots in the bag as it’s been a slow start to the film/photo side of snowboarding this year.  I’ve been shooting a lot lately with Cam Hunter, who is relatively new to the backcountry, but so far, is killing it!  Keep an eye out for his work and peep his blog here and his site here.

In other news, I just found out that I’ve got another shot coming out any day now in the new issue Snowboard Canada magazine.  The photo is a double-page-spread in the contents section of the issue, and once again, captured by the talented Jussi Grznar.  I was driving around with Taylor Godber while on a jib trip last year (location, undisclosed) and found this lumber yard that seemed like it had tons of potential.   Somehow, we were able to drive in there and set this feature up, complete with a generator, lights, and a bungee, without anyone taking a second glance at what we were all doing.  What you can’t see in this photo is the mini step up to sketchy log ride to shifty quarter pipe made from logs that made this all possible.  Big thanks to the crew (Jussi, Taylor, D Watt, Jon V, and Ryan Kenny) for making this happen. Here’s a preview of the shot to show you what to look for in the magazine!

Here’s some shots of the area I took on my phone:

On another note, Vans is doing a 4-stop Canadian Big Air series this winter, where they’ve chosen to restrict the rotations to nothing over a 720, making style (photo by Colin Adair) the most important thing!  So stoked this is happening!  Get out to the stop nearest you, or make it to all of ‘em if ya think you got what it takes.

Check out Beaver Wax

In case you don’t know, you should check out one of my sponsors, Beaver Wax.  They are an entirely Canadian company that has been supporting snowboarding for years with an environmentally conscious attitude. Swing by their online store to pick some up for yourself!

Watch out for big things next year from these guys. THANKS for the support Beaver Wax!

Breakin’ in the sled!

We had a super mellow day up Sproatt yesterday, but any day on snow right now is good as I’m trying to break in my new sled.  Barely have 200km on it now, and it’s still a few hundred off from being fully broken in.

The light was terrible, but somehow as soon as we reached the alpine, it broke for about 20 minutes, so we went for a little roop.

Photographer Cam Hunter came up with us and snapped a few shots; here’s one of me sittin’ on my new toy.  For more, check out Cam’s blog or click the image below.
